New City exists to 1) Believe the Gospel 2) Celebrate God’s Grace 3) Make Lifelong Disciples 4) Love Neighbors. These core values are central to our shared life together and service to the larger community.
Believe the Gospel
God heals the brokenness of our sin by restoring us to new life through Jesus. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” The most important question, in life and every day, is Do you believe this? Trusting Jesus enables us to turn from sin, follow him and grow in fellowship with him.
Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.” -Mark 1:14-15
Celebrate God’s Grace
God made us to glorify and enjoy him forever. We seek to joyfully receive and respond to this gift through regular Sabbath worship - where Christ-centered prayer, confession, tithing, preaching and the sacraments deepen our union with Jesus. We seek to worship God through different languages and styles, blending songs and traditions from many nations. Cross-cultural worship is one of the most vivid ways for us to delight in God and experience his kingdom.
“Sing to the LORD a new song for he has done marvelous things! The LORD has revealed his righteousness before the nations. Make a joyful noise to the LORD all the earth.” -Psalm 98:1-4
Make Lifelong Disciples
Jesus says to every man, woman and child, “Come follow me." New City is being planted so that people from every people group, language and background might embrace Jesus and deepen their love for him. We seek to nurture people at every stage of spiritual life - from unbelief to belief; belief to maturity; maturity to leadership. We will do this through prayer, learning God's word, forming fellowship groups and intentionally training leaders.
Northeast Dallas is home to people from all over the globe. Many are survivors and learning their stories makes our community an inspiring place to live. Yet our neighborhood is also marked by poverty, crime, family brokenness and spiritual despair. We seek to love our neighbors amidst these realities in tangible Spirit-led ways, first and foremost, by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to create “mercy ministries” that provide immediate relief to those in need and develop holistic programs that transform lives for the long-run.
